COVID-19: Practical measures for restaurant hotel and lodging in the tourism industry of Mongolia


The government of Mongolia, all emergency agencies, and health organizations are still working hard and operating 24 hours to preventing from the COVID 19 since January.

As of August 5, 2020, the number of new coronavirus infections reached 293 in Mongolia. All of them are imported cases, including 4 foreigners and 289 Mongolians flew from abroad. We have had no deaths no local transmissions within the country.

There is no evidence to date of viruses that cause respiratory illnesses being transmitted via food or food packaging. Most local restaurants, tourist camps and hotels are working normally and the government announced various measures to control the outbreak.

It is not just essential to ensure the health and safety of your employees and customers, but also customers want to dine at a clean restaurant that serves hygienic food and environment and stay in clean tourist camp. Everyone has the right to safe and nutritious food. When food is not safe, children cannot learn, adults cannot work. At this time of coronavirus safety standards and hygiene have become of utmost importance. During these times, it is essential to focus on hygiene and safety practices, to instill trust among the customers.

· Maintaining hygiene standards in restaurants also plays an essential role in the better functioning and longevity of Kitchen Equipment. Routine maintenance keeping expensive equipment in proper operation and working order. · Making a routine of changing uniforms after every shift. Also, employees, especially the kitchen staff, must wear a mask and change every two hours.

· Sanitize hands after every three hours while he/she is on duty.

· It is important to wear proper headgear, hand gloves while handling food. No dishwashing must happen without the use of rubber gloves.

· Employees need to change gloves as they become soiled, torn and in between tasks

· No more than 10 customers are allowed in the restaurant.

· Every two hours all equipment, table surfaces that have direct contact with food should be cleaned or sanitized thoroughly to prevent the built-up bacteria and helps maintain hygiene standards in restaurants.

· Floors and walls must be washed 15-30 minutes every day.

· Open window 2-3 times every day for 10-15 minutes
